Patrik Sandell and Emil Axelsson will mark the 20th anniversary of their Junior World Rally Championship title by returning to the Renault Clio Super 1600 at Rallylegend in San Marino, 8 to 11 October 2026.
The Swedish crew won the 2006 JWRC in the front-wheel-drive Clio S1600, taking the championship with a win in Sardinia and further strong results across the season. Two decades later they will share the same type of car again, this time on the special stages of Rallylegend.
“Both Emil and I are really excited for this rally,” says Sandell. “Being back together in the car and once again driving one of the best cars from the JWRC era, the Renault Clio Super 1600, is something special.”
The pair will compete with Italian squad MS Munaretto, one of the teams associated with the car during that period of its career. The reunion of crew, car and team is expected to be a highlight for fans of the Super 1600 era.
Rallylegend, now in its 24th edition, has become one of the season’s signature gatherings for historic and modern rally machinery. The event draws stars from across the sport and is expected to attract more than 100,000 spectators to San Marino over the second weekend of October.
